Observations While Taking Down an Art Show

Art can hang at a show for a month undisturbed.  People can walk by it everyday and never see it.  A show that hangs for 30 days will probably go unnoticed for 28 days.  Only 2 days out of 30 will someone notice the artwork.  Have you guessed which days?  Okay, I'll tell you.....wait for it.....wait for it.....Monday and Tuesday.  Ha, ha, just a joke.  The 2 days your artwork will get the most notice are the day you put it up and the day you take it down.  To add insult to injury, the most notice it will get is when it is gone.  People will say to themselves, "Hey, where did those great paintings go?" or "I really liked the one that was right there", as they point to the empty wall.  Now this part I don't understand.  They will not call you.  They  have your card, they could even ask the show organizers for your contact info., but they don't.  No need to wait for it.  On to the next show..............

Art Show Observations

My recent art show has come and gone.  The paintings still hang on the walls of the Arts Center, but for all intents and purposes the show is over.  Months of planning and painting come down to one night of people milling around drinking and eating.  A show is considered a success if you have lots of people, a bar, and food.

It is interesting to watch people at an art show.  They of course get a drink first and then walk around kind of looking at art.  Kind of looking at the art.  It is almost like they don't want anyone to know they are looking at the art.  It is like they don't want to be caught looking at it.

Go to an art show sometime and see what I mean.  Of course, get a drink first.
